I loved this bit of Broadway history. I'm looking forward to more. I have often wondered what it must have been like for the opening night audience of West Side Story. The music and choreography were a new modern world for the stage. I would love to have been there.

I also saw the original production of Sweeney Todd, and it was an unforgettable experience for me too. It was a great show, the score is thrilling, and Sondheim was a genius - but Rodgers and Hammerstein, at their best, were greater, no doubt about it.

The way he felt watching Carousel is how I felt watching the original Bway production of Sweeney Todd. An unforgettable once in a lifetime experience.

My great-grandfather Morris Nunes was partners with Maurice Bailey in running the Shubert and many family members were involved as well. Louis Moscow, treasurer listed in the playbill at 1:39, was Morris Nunes' Uncle. Morris died in 1948 but his wife Jennie, my great-grandmother, and other family members still stayed heavily involved for many years. Wish there was more mention of them in this video, but still very entertaining!
